2021 ain't so bad

where have i been?  what have i been doing?

well, since August of 2020, i have put out a few new albums,
Nov 26, 2020 I put out "50" a song for my 50th birthday with a large group of singers who helped out with this one, including Alisa Jefferson, Tess Savigear, Tim Alexander, Jannette Salisbury, Brian Wood, Wilsun, Alejandro Olivares, Alex Moody, Hillary Watts, and Matt Ferrara.  I also had lead guitars from Dan Upton.

Here's a copy of it. 50

For my RPM 2021 album, I recorded We Are Eagles Now, dedicated to my baby sister who had a spinal stroke and is now paralyzed from the waist down.  The album features vocals from Ben Parks, violin from his wife Laurel Morgan Parks and guitars by Stan Jones.

that last post was pure bullshit

well I went through a number of name changes before realizing that Angie Fights Crime is as much me as I am it, to discard it with such little regard to the history of the whole thing would simply be stupid.

That and all the best names are taken by some ass-hat metal band.

so the last AFC album that you know of, was self-titled Angie Fights Crime, featuring a ton of famous locals etc who did the vocals for me.

2016 I completed two albums, Fair Game, a  solo recorded recorded on my iPad, and Flooded, which was about the floods of 2016 in Missouri as well as the election of 2016, sung by the wonderful Ash Reynolds.

That summer I embarked on a collaboration with Matt Ferrara and Wilson called MINOA, which was really supposed to have a ton of other people involved, but they all entirely bailed.  It was fun.

At the end of 2016 I put out RISEUP! featuring Katie Gilchrist on vocals, it was an Anthem rock album, a lot of electronics, and mixed by Matt Parker.

2017's RPM album was entitled 2017, and featured vocals by Madeleine Koestner.

2018's RPM album was called A440 and featured vocals by Wilson.  this was a super personal album about my life and Wilson's haunted vocals really brought out the emotion of the songs

2019's RPM album was ASTEROID, again featuring Katie Gilchrist on vocals.  This was an apocalyptic album about the end of the world.  I was praying for that ASTEROID, we're really screwed in this country.  Who even know things could get this bad.  Well 2020 would go on to prove me wrong, yet again.

the summer of 2019 we did eXchange 2, featuring a huge cast of friends, swapping songs, I decided I would re-invent their covers as CURE songs.  It was a blast, and featured the likes of Matt Ferrara, Tim Alexander, Jarrett Osborn, Ash Reynolds, Tess Avigear, Keith Landry, Colin Garvey, Wilson, Dave Storms, Dana Derrick and Matt Parker.

2020 came and my first album was Winter of Our Discontent, which was bleak, but so is February in Missouri.  COVID 19 hit, and everybody had to stay home, I quit my job to start a new job, and wound up doing a second album in April called the Machine, featuring Jarrett Osborn on drums, Stan Jones on lead guitar and Chris Wagner on bass.  It was a shit ton of fun to make, and now you're totally all caught up.

Angie Fights Crime was an outlet over the last 44 years of writing music, recording it and sharing it with the world.  The concept started out simple, and gradually grew until 27 albums and numerous other songs were recorded.  There were a handful of songs i wrote that never made it anything other than a demo, and with those songs there will always be the next thing.

The final Angie Fights Crime album was released on March 1, 2015 and was self titled.  It featured the vocal talents of David George, Gregg Todt, Ashley Reynolds, Madeline Koestner, Jeff Treese, Nikki Goodson with extra guitar solos from Brent Nolan and Jeff Treese.  It can be heard here.

I am formulating the next project, which I will unveil this summer.

I'm very behind on this thing, mostly because I have a FB page to maintain, and also because I've been pretty busy writing and recording music.  so xChange was the last CD that I mentioned, it was finished and a link to it can be found here.

After xChange which was done in 2013, i began work on the RPM 2k14 album, which I eventually called Yield.  it was originally just like any other album, bunch of songs, ho-hum, and then inspiration took over and it became an accoustic album, which I think everyone needs.  all the song titles start with H, but that's hardly a concept.  the songs can be heard here.

After Yield was done I took some time to work on other things, and then eventually had enough songs together for another album, this one called ZERO.  ZERO is a bit of soul, a bit of fancy, a bit of happy thoughts and good feelings, with some excellent singers from the UK, Mr. Alex Moody, Tess Savigear and Meg Radley.  It was mixed and Mastered by Mr. Tim Alexander of LetterSeventeen fame, and came out just in time to start up the last Angie Fights Crime album ever, RPM 2k15's self-titled Angie Fights Crime, which will be released in a week.
ZERO can be heard here.

RPM 2k15 started with some extra NOW/here songs I had laying around, some songs I had written for other bands, and morphed into this awesome multiple personality with many guest singers, including David George, Gregg Todt, Ashley Reynolds, Nikki Goodson, Colin Garvey, Jeff Treese & Madeleine Koestner.
Mastering of the album will be done by Matt Parker from the UK, and should be released March 1, 2015.

xChange Update

currently there are 13 1/2 people signed up for the xChange album, some of the covers have even started to trickle in.  I have all 13 1/2 of my demos done for my covers of their songs and will start to record stuff over the coming weeks.  the project completion date is supposed to be september.  a list of the people involved include:  Matt Parker, Shaun Conroy, Alex Moody, Randy Johnson, Tess Savigear, Ashley Reynolds, Reg Smith, Tim Alexander, Thomas Carrieri, David George, Rob Medcalf, Brian Trotter, and Damian Lethbridge.  the 1/2 represents someone still not 100% in, but if they get it done, good on YA!
this one is brit heavy, but I like it.  alot.

and so it begins, X-Change the new album

i had an idea what i wanted for my last 3 albums as AFC, one of which will be RPM 2014
and one which I wanted to model after "Faiths", which was basically me and AM/FM Dreams swapping songs, a very cool idea.  I put the feelers out on Facebook with the RPM site down indefinitely and got a wopping 12 responses so far.  that's 24 songs in case you can't count good.  double CD?  why the hell not.  the premise will be basically I will write a song for everyone who joins up and they will in turn also write a song and then we cover each others songs and make them our own.  Deadline to sign up is April 30.  I leave for Greece in May.  Deadline for the whole shabang will be the end of September.  If i get 12 songs from 12 different folks then I will have my work cut out for me.  now to come up with an album cover.  interesting idea....
